From a young age, I have always been drawn to fitness. Even as a little girl, I knew I wanted to learn more about health, strength, and longevity. At just eight years old, I asked my stepfather for dumbbells as a Christmas gift. His response? “Weights are for boys.” But that didn’t stop me. At the time, I didn’t speak English or fully understand the science behind movement and exercise, so I improvised. I started with a broomstick for squats, learning by watching television. Canned goods became my weights—large cans for bicep curls and shoulder presses. For abs, I figured out my own routine, starting with full-range sit-ups.
When I turned 18, I joined Gold’s Gym, which was the ultimate hub for serious lifters at the time. As a smaller person, I couldn’t lift heavy like others, so I simply did what I could, learning through trial and error. Through self-teaching and relentless determination, I molded myself into a fitness enthusiast, constantly pushing my body to its limits.
Although I initially pursued a degree in elementary education, fitness always remained a passion. During college, I realized my true calling was to become a personal trainer. I did my research and found a program at Penn Valley Community College that allowed me to become certified. That decision paved the way for my career as a professional trainer, a path I continue to follow today.
One year, purely for fun, I entered the Ms. Figure Gold Classic of KC competition. To my surprise, I won first place in my division and took the overall title. This incredible experience led me to earn my Pro status, and I went on to compete for over 11 years — an unforgettable journey that allowed me to travel the world and connect with people from all walks of life.
Now, my mission is to encourage others to pursue their potential, embrace health, and live their best lives. Whether it’s motivating someone to work out, eat differently, or simply take a 30-minute walk, I find joy in inspiring positive change. The first step to a healthier life starts with small, consistent actions—and I love guiding others toward that transformation.
